Recap: Giants Lose 6-1

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Carlos Gonzalez hit a pair of homers and drove in three as Colorado topped San Francisco, 6-1, in the finale of a two-game set from Coors Field.

Ryan Spilborghs added two RBI and Troy Tulowitzki posted three hits including a homer for the Rockies, who recovered nicely from a 10-0 setback in the series opener on Tuesday and have won five of six overall.

Ubaldo Jimenez (17-2) went seven strong innings, scattering four hits and one run, fanning nine with two walks. He became the first pitcher in the majors to win 17 games.

Buster Posey knocked in the only run for the Giants, who saw their four-game win streak ended.

Madison Bumgarner (4-4) was charged in the loss with nine hits and four runs over four-plus frames.

Spilborghs' two-run double in the second got the Rockies on the board, then Gonzalez hit his first homer of the game -- a solo shot to right after a Todd Helton single -- for a 4-0 game in the fifth.

Posey's run-scoring double in the sixth put the Giants on the board, but Colorado increased its lead to 6-1 in the home half when Gonzalez and Tulowitzki hit back-to-back two-out homers.

Jimenez finished his outing by retiring the final four batters he faced. Matt Belisle turned in a scoreless eighth and Rafael Betancourt added a similar ninth to wrap up the victory.

Colorado has won seven of 12 over San Francisco this season, including four of six in Denver...This was the 12th time that Jimenez has pitched at least seven innings. He also became the first Rox hurler to win at least 17 games in a season since Jeff Francis in 2007...Kevin Ritz (1996) and Pedro Astacio (1999) were the others.
