The A’s and Rangers wrap up their three game series with a fun pitching matchup between Gio Gonzalez and Colby Lewis down in Arlington today. Gonzalez has begun to fulfill his potential as his record currently stands at 11-8 with a 3.24 ERA. After spending time in Japan, Colby Lewis appears to have figured something out and is having a career year with the Rangers. Lewis is one of several reasons these Rangers are cruising in the AL West.
The A’s will be looking to win this road series with a victory this afternoon. A win would leave the A’s 7.5 out of first place with 34 games to go and one extra game on the Rangers. Given the A’s inability to get too far past the .500 mark, it’s unlikely the A’s will get much closer. However, it at least keeps the Rangers from getting to comfortable with a playoff spot quite yet. A win today would allow the A’s to hang around a little bit longer.
