Giants Travel To Philly To Take On... The Phillies

The San Francisco Giants are coming off disappointing losses to the San Diego Padres. It was a series that every Giants fan dreaded, and this one is now just as tough. They're going to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies in a three-game series that's very significant to both teams' playoff hopes.

They're tied for the wild card, presently - and the Giants absolutely need this win. If they can't unseat the Padres, they have to quell the Phillies to keep their playoff hopes alive. The last time these teams played, the Giants lost a tumultous game while trying (and obviously failing) to protect a three-run lead. Game one sees Barry Zito take the mound for the Giants against Roy Oswalt.

The series against the Padres didn't see very much at all from the Giants. Be it from Tim Lincecum and the pitchers, or Aubrey Huff, Andres Torres, Buster Posey and the like on offense - it just didn't happen. They took a game, but it didn't fully feel like a win at the time.

Chase Utley makes his return, and Giants fans have to hate that. Shane Victorino is also hoping for and is poised for a good series. The Giants pitching will need to be pretty close to perfect. In other news, Pat Burrell returns to Philly, interested to know how he'll be received in this series.
