It wasn't the type of performance that the Giants were looking for, to say the least. Up against the Phillies, who were previous tied with the Giants for the NL wild card lead, the Giants couldn't get anything done. After starting off with two runs, it was mostly downhill from there. The Giants kept it close until the eighth inning where the now familiar collapse began. If the team could just make it to the ninth inning with the game close, we'd probably see more Giants victories. But it wasn't to be.
They'll look to rebound in game two when they send Matt Cain to the mound against Joe Blanton.
