Rumor: Warriors In the Hunt To Get David Lee

Golden State Warriors beat writer Marcus Thompson II hits us with breaking news that the Warriors are trying to work out a deal with the New York Knicks to extract David Lee for Anthony Randolph and some additional filler. Thompson II also says that the Nets and Timberwolves may want some of this action.

Of course, all this is contingent upon whether LeBron James ends up with New York (as all signs from LeBron's celebrity friends on Twitter seem to think it's a wrap):

If James announces he's decided to play anywhere but New York, the Warriors are in play for Lee. The Warriors are one of a few teams in the mix for Lee via a sign-and-trade with the Knicks. And the Warriors have an offer the Knicks favor, a team source said.

See what Warrior fans over at SB Nation Warriors Blog, Golden State of Mindthink about this move. Also, see Golden State of Mind editor Atma Brother #1's opinion of the rumored 3-way trade proposal circulating last week that would have landed us Minnesota Timberwolves' Al Jefferson and had us moving Monta Ellis to New York with David Lee going to the Midwest. Here's some tasty tidbits of what Atma Brother #1 preferred to see instead:

This would be a great time to cut out the middle man, meaning the T-Wolves. Monta Ellis for David Lee (with some pieces to make the numbers work) would be a STEAL. The injury-prone, turnover-prone, tantrum-prone, low IQ-prone, selfish-prone Moped Ellis for a 20-12 big man with over 3.5 assists per game?

SIGN. ME. UP.

Could David Lee play Nellie-ball?
