Mazzaro Dominant As A's Win Series From Cleveland

Vin Mazzaro had a “coming of age” in going a career high 7 1/3 innings on 111 pitches -- allowing just one earned run and walking only one while striking out seven -- as the A’s took two out of three from Cleveland.

It has to be heartening for the A’s to see two of their young pitchers, Gio Gonzalez and Vin Mazzaro, combine to give up just one earned run in 14 innings combined. Jack Cust (batting) and Cliff Pennington (batting and fielding) also stood out in the series as the A’s pulled to within a game of .500 at 41-42.
