A's Win 3-1 Behind Strong Pitching By Mazzaro

On the day Trevor Cahill was named to the American League All Star team, it was fitting that fellow youngster Vin Mazzaro went out and dominated a struggling Indians squad in a 3-1 victory. Mazzaro went 7.1 innings, giving up one run, and retired thirteen straight at one point. The win moves the A’s back to within a game of .500 heading into a huge week against the Yankees and Angels leading up to the All Star Break.

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) – Adam Rosales hit a solo homer and Vin Mazzaro tossed 7 1/3 solid innings, as the Oakland Athletics earned a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians in the rubber match of a three-game series at Progressive Field.

Mark Ellis went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and Ryan Sweeney also knocked in a run for Oakland, which has won seven of its last nine.

Mazzaro (4-2) allowed one run on seven hits with one walk and struck out seven. Andrew Bailey threw a scoreless ninth to record his 17th save of the season.
