Alvaro Fernandez Makes His Seattle Debut

Steve Zakuani was substituted in favor of Seattle’s newest designated player – Uruguayan international midfielder Alvaro Fernandez.

Meanwhile, San Jose is struggling to maintain possession and create quality chances in their bid to salvage a point at home against their western rivals. The offensive additions of Johnson and Alvarez have yet to pay dividends and Seattle has had the better of play for the first 25 minutes of the 2nd half. San Jose has shown a propensity for producing surprising goals against the flow of play lately and it looks like they will need another if they want to get anything out of tonight’s match.

San Jose is using their final substitution to bring on midfielder/forward Chris Wondolowski in place of defender Jason Hernandez in their final effort to find some offense with 16 minutes plus to go.
