Seattle broke an early tie with a well-worked goal from Freddie Montero in the 26th minute, and now the Quakes will be playing from behind at home. Sanna Nyassi was freed down the right side of the box and sent in a beautiful cross to Montero, who powerfully headed home from close range. The Sounders have been increasingly dominant in the midfield and San Jose will need to find a way to break through that pressure to create some chances of their own.
