The San Francisco 49ers will open training camp in just a few short days. The rookies report to the team on Friday, the veterans on Saturday, and then practices begin after that. Initially, the team was supposed to begin practices on Monday, but Singletary has decided to open a day early with shelled practices a day before (the 1st).
It's a pivotal time for the 49ers, as they'll be looking to see if they've done enough to grow from their good play last year to get better and possibly take the NFC West this year. With the Cardinals suffering some key losses, the 49ers will look to hit the ground running and for that, they'll need to get through training camp with progress from several key additions to the team.
The teams two first round draft picks in tackle Anthony Davis and guard Mike Iupati have yet to sign contracts. Though Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea reports that Davis is expected to sign a contract Friday morning. The 49ers second and third round picks, safety Taylor Mays and linebacker Navorro Bowman respectively have also not signed deals. Bowman is said to have agreed to terms on his contract and should be signing in the morning as well, however. The rest of the team's rookies have signed.
As pertinent training camp news pours out we'll have more in this stream.
