Suzuki Extended Four Years

New, 1 comment

The Oakland A's finished up a contract extension with Kurt Suzuki, which will lock him in with the team for another four years. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the deal is worth $16.25 million. They also report on a vesting option that could kick in:

"...and a fifth year, 2014, that kicks in with a vesting option based on games played, with the number just under 120 games. With the vesting option, the deal could be worth $25-26 million."

Suziki is perhaps the most recognizable player on the A's, and as the article above notes, it's a great time to get it done. There weren't many doubts about a deal getting done, but they couldn't have had better timing than right now, amidst the A's impressive win streak since the All-Star break.
