49ers Vernon Davis To Host "Curling With The Stars" Tournament

New, 3 comments

The 49ers have announced in a press release that TE Vernon Davis will be hosting a charity event called "Curling With The Stars". I'm not kidding, folks. I gotta say, I'm finding the idea pretty funny, but also really cool that he seems to like the sport so much. Earlier this year, Davis was the honorary team captain for the men's US Olympic Curling team, and it seems his interest in the sport hasn't waned since then. Jump for more information...

On Wednesday, July 28, 49ers Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis will host the inaugural Curling with the Starscharity event at Sharks Ice in San Jose, CA. Curling with the Stars will give sports fans the chance to learn how to curl from professionals while showcasing their skills in a friendly competition.

Members of the 2010 Men's U.S. Olympic Curling team, additional 49ers players and other Bay Area celebrities will be on hand to participate and cheer on the teams.

Prior to the curling competition, Davis will host a dinner and auction at 6:00 p.m., where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Davis Family Foundation and the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Association.  The Davis Family Foundation is a component of the Baltimore Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Earlier this year, Davis served as the Honorary Team Captain for the U.S. Men's Curling team at the Olympic Games in Vancouver.
