San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - James Loney had two hits and drove in three, as the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the San Francisco Giants, 4-2, in the middle installment of a three-game series. Rafael Furcal added three hits as the Dodgers locked up the series win, following Monday's 4-2 victory. Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 after replacing Manny Ramirez, who left in the first inning because of a right hamstring injury. John Ely (4-5) took the victory after limiting the Giants to one run on five hits and three walks in seven innings. He also struck out five in his first win since May 22. Matt Cain (6-7) got the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings. Cain fell to 0-8 in 14 career starts against the Dodgers. Pat Burrell went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Giants, who have lost four in a row. Ramirez singled in the first inning to put runners on the corners with two outs. Loney followed with another hit to plate Andre Ethier, and on the play, Ramirez rounded second base. He got back to the bag, but left after the play, replaced by Kemp, who was not in the Dodgers' starting lineup for a third consecutive game. When play resumed, Casey Blake walked to load the bases, but Blake DeWitt fouled out to end the threat. In the bottom half, Aubrey Huff's sacrifice fly evened the contest. The score remained 1-1 until the fifth, which Furcal and Russell Martin began with singles to put runners on the corners. Cain rebounded to retire the next two batters, but after Martin stole second, Loney singled to right to plate both runners. Loney advanced to second on the throw home, then scored on Blake's single to center. That made it a 4-1 game, and Ely kept the Giants from scoring for the remainder of his outing. Ramon Troncosoand George Sherrill combined to throw a scoreless eighth, sending the Dodgers to the ninth with a three-run lead. Burrell's leadoff homer off Justin Miller had San Francisco within two, but Miller got two outs before Edgar Renteria singled. Ronald Belisario came in and got pinch-hitter Buster Posey on a line out to end the game.
