Good morning everyone, welcome to another edition of Down By The Bay. As usual for the offseason, not a lot from the 49ers or Raiders but plenty on the baseball teams, the hockey team, and perhaps the college and basketball team. Maybe. We'll see what I have today... A lot about the A's, that's for sure.
After the jump is all you need to know when it comes to the A's, Giants, 49ers, Raiders, Warriors, Sharks and all of Bay Area sports is laid in front of you by myself, as per our team specific blogs. So jump when I say jump... jump.
A's: Athletics Nation is a very neurotic blog, and that's a compliment. When the team loses, it's so ... drastic of a post-game thread/recap that even fans find comedic value in the loss - and when the team wins, it's almost like they hadn't witnessed one in a century, and I love it. This post-game thread/recap of the A's 3-2 win over the Pirates yesterday to sweep the series. First they won 14-4, then 5-0, and now 3-2. Did they feel a little sorry for them? I suppose we all do. Can I get a swish? Also, David Fucillo had a blog post here on SB Nation Bay Area about some betting odds concerning which Oakland team will bring in a championship first. I'd go with the Raiders, myself. For more from us, Samuel Lam has a post about the A's black jerseys, and where exactly they can stick them. Well, he doesn't use that wordage but by the end of that read I was convinced they were the worst jerseys since... well the Warriors new ones.
Giants: Well... you can talk about the Giants loss yesterday in the post-game thread at McCovey Chronicles, or you could read the minor lines and... well, talk about those. It's your choice, but either way the spirits are low at our Giants blog.
Warriors: Warriors fans have something else to talk about now, as Golden State Of Mind reveals a leaked photo of the new jerseys, which I find to be particularly atrocious, but then again I don't get paid to critique them... well actually, I kind of do but you know what I mean. The road jerseys are infinitely better. Of course, if you still want to know just what was going on when the team picked Ekpe Udoh, well GSoM also rolled out some draft grades. I'm not sure what I'd give them at this point, myself - but I'm not too sure it would be high.
Sharks: It's a bittersweet symphony of a week for San Jose Sharks fans. They had what appears to be a pretty good draft, with some slightly unknown players who appear to all have a strong upside, but a recent signing that left some heads more than a little scratched. The draft recap from Fear The Fin can be found here, and it includes links to all of their fine coverage. Now, some info on the signing - which was Niclas Wallin for those of you not following. The dollar amount just doesn't appear to be right by any stretch of the imagination, and FTF does a good job of telling you what you need to know about it, and the future due to it.
49ers: As the football offseason continues, so do Niners Nation's posts from the future. User Tre9er contributed this look-in from the upcoming Chiefs game once the season starts. Also, Fooch takes a look at one of the players on the bubble to make the roster, Diyral Briggs.
Cal: Best thing about a college team blog: you get to follow the alumni throughout whatever career path they go on (providing it's sports related, of course) and it's still relevant and interesting; as was this fanshot on Alysia Johnson, former Cal athlete who recently won the 800 meters at the US Track and Field Championships. A question is also raised at the blog (California Golden Blogs for those of you just joining in), does Cal compete in too many sports? I don't think so, personally.
