Down By The Bay: Where The Confusion Grows...

Good morning all. The confusion mostly stems from the Sharks and their pick in the NHL Entry Draft yesterday. I was watching and I was among all of the head scratchers, and still kind of am. For more on that see the Sharks section below.

After the jump is all you need to know when it comes to the A's, Giants, 49ers, Raiders, Warriors, Sharks and all of Bay Area sports is laid in front of you by myself, as per our team specific blogs. So jump when I say jump... jump.

Sharks: The Sharks ended up taking Charlie Coyle with their pick, the 28th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. I don't really understand the pick, mostly because I'm not too familiar with the guy, but there were seemingly at the very least two better picks on the board still, with Tyler Toffoli and Emerson Etam still available.  Still, Doug Wilson and the Sharks have a very good history in the draft so, as a fan, I'll just be confused rather than upset - for now.

Giants: Well, the Giants didn't play a supremely good game yesterday, but it was enough to come out with a win. Over at McCovey Chronicles you can check out their post-game thread and their minor lines. They've also got a fanshot about Madison Bumgarner, the Giants top pitching prospect, making his first start - up against the Red Sox. It's a move I don't agree with and will be putting my thoughts into a blog post on the matter later today.

A's: The A's had themselves a rather dominating win, but it wasn't exactly against a game opponent. Well, the Pirates kept it close for a short while, but overall there wasn't much fight in them. The post-game thread at Athletics Nation should serve for all discussion purposes even if the choice of pictures and wordage is a bit, how you say, unconventional.

Warriors: Warriors fans are still searching for clarity after the team selected Ekpe Udoh with the sixth overall pick in the draft two days ago. Golden State of Mind wrestles with the pick in this fanshot, which links to a post that does its best to answer some questions. Those are not the comments of very happy fans, overall.

49ers: Niners Nation continues to amuse themselves throughout the NFL offseason, with a post from the futurerecapping the game that hasn't happened yet between the Saints and the 49ers. They also have some college cornerback ratings that are worth noting. Lastly, there was a post about being able to meet Mike Singletary - and look at that, it pertains to people in the bay area. Check it out.

Cal: I'm not familiar with her, but even as I read this post saying goodbye to Jill Costello, who lost a battle with lung cancer and passed away at the age of 22, I feel like I should miss this person who was so strong and courageous, and I find that I do.
