Chargers-Raiders: The Streak Has To End Sometime

In a matchup of division rivals the San Diego Chargers (2-2) venture into the Black Hole to take on the Raiders (1-3). The Chargers have beaten the Raiders 13 consecutive times and Qb Phillip Rivers is 8-0 as a starter against the Raiders.

There will be no love loss as this game unwinds on the field. In an age where players typically downplay the meaning rivalries carries, some Raiders made a point to mention that they have had enough of losing to the Chargers. One of the longest tenured Raiders LB Sam William had this to say. Willams:

We don’t like it. We don’t like the Chargers at all. We don’t like anything about them. We don’t like them, so we’re going to end this streak. That’s our goal . . . it’s something about the Chargers, San Diego and the Raiders that don’t mix.

If the Raiders are to snap the streak this week they are going to have to do so against a team that comes in rolling from a dominant victory against the Arizona Cardinals. The Chargers, however, have struggled on the road this year, they are 0-2.

The Raiders will be looking to bounce back from consecutive losses the most recent a 7-point defeat at home against the Houston Texans. The Raiders run defense will be looking to bounce back after getting shredded by the Houston Texans.

It will be interesting to see how much the Chargers test the Raiders run D as they like to move the ball through the air. This sets up for an interesting matchup as they will bring their third ranked passing offense to face the Raiders third ranked passing defense.
