The Southern Miss-bound quarterback is leaving East Bay defenses in flames. Stephanie Hammon of the Contra Costa Times has more.
"He's the difference," said Clayton Valley coach Herc Pardi after watching Lloyd torch the Eagles defense for 439 yards and four touchdowns. "I've been involved in high school football for 35 years, and he's one of the best quarterbacks to come out of Contra Costa County. He's an outstanding leader. He's that good." Lloyd's gaudy passing numbers were typical for the Southern Mississippi commit, and it helped the host Minutemen beat their biggest rival 50-14 in both teams' Diablo Valley Athletic League opener. The victory keeps the Claycord Cup on the Concord campus for the second straight year and pushes Concord's winning streak to five games.
