Bellarmine, Led By Kristoffer Olugbode, Beats Rivals St. Francis

New, 1 comment

Two South Bay rivals clashed in a crucial WCAL tilt, and Bellarmine came out on top, thanks to some big contributions from Olugbode (one score, two picks).

St. Francis took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter as quarterback Wil Smith connected with Cory Kusich for a 26-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive.

The Bells came right back with a 10-play, 77-yard drive capped by Olugbode's only score of the night.

After a St. Francis three-and-out, Bellarmine extended its lead. After a handful of Olugbode carries, junior quarterback Travis McHugh scored on a sneak, and the Bells led 14-7

The Lancers tied the score by halftime after a huge catch by wide receiver Braden Bishop, but the second half was all Bellarmine. On their second possession of the half, the Bells took the lead once again on a McHugh touchdown run.

The Lancers then slowly faded away.

The highlights are below, as this was picked by Eener Sports as the Bay Area game of the week.
