Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry wasn't in the lineup for the team's 110-83 preseason-opening win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night. Head coach Mark Jackson is being cautious with Curry, who is coming back from an ankle injury that kept him out for 40 games last season.

The Warriors play their preseason home opener on Monday night, and coach Jackson thought that was a better time for Curry to return to game action. Jackson was uncomfortable with playing the point guard on back-to-back nights, according to CSN Bay Area.

The decision was not without protest from Curry, who is anxious to get back on the court after spending an extended period of time recovering. The third-year starter will be a welcome prescence when he does return. Curry has been among the league's best three-point shooters since arriving to Golden State. He has knocked down 44 percent from long-range, while also dishing out 5.8 assists per game.

With Klay Thompson and Brandon Rush in the fold, the Warriors should have a lethal combination of shooters on the outside when Curry is finally back and healthy.

Curry will be on the court testing his ankle on Monday night, when Golden State hosts the Utah Jazz.
