Golden State center Andrew Bogut returned to action, and Carl Landry made the clutch shots to help the Warriors beat the Suns in Phoenix.
The Golden State Warriors beat the Phoenix Suns, 87-85, to open their 2012-13 NBA regular season.
Carl Landry made the two big buckets down the stretch. Landry dunked the ball on an assist from David Lee, then sunk a 17-foot jumper off a dish from Jarrett Jack to give the Warriors the three-point lead. Golden State held on, overcoming two Stephen Curry missed free throws no less, to win its first game of the season.
Landry led the Warriors with 17 points and six rebounds, Klay Thompson had 16 points and eight rebounds, Brandon Rush added 14 points, and Jarrett Jack contributed 10 points and seven assists. Andrew Bogut returned to action for the first time since being traded to Golden State, totaling eight points and six rebounds in 18-plus minutes of action. Curry struggled with his shot, missing 12-of-14 shots.
