Stephen Curry, Warriors taking it easy to start training camp

Cary Emondson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Curry enters training camp after undergoing multiple ankle surgeries the past few years. He will take practices slow until he feels he is ready to push it in a game-like situation.

When healthy, Stephen Curry is one of the NBA's best scorers. Or at least that's the case when his ankles are cooperating with him and he's 100% on the court. Unfortunately for the Golden State Warriors, multiple ankle surgeries have kept him on the bench much more than they would like.

So as training camp and the regular season near, Curry is preparing to go hard in practice in order to get ready for a game-like situation. Curry gave some insight into what the coaching staff has prepared for him in a recent article on CSN Bay Area. Here are a few of the details:

"I'm sure he has a plan that he's going to stick to in terms of what I can do and what I can't do," said Curry, who along with David Lee and Bogut were named tri-captains. "I'm trying to keep the mentality of: ‘I'm going to do everything.'

"And eventually I'll get to that point if he lets me. I'm not going into practice thinking I have a certain endpoint. It's just to train my mind to get back into complete and total situations in practice and game-like scenarios. That's kind of my approach."

The Warriors entered the upcoming season with a lot of talent, but they've been hit hard with injuries in recent years. If they can keep Curry, Andrew Bogut and Andris Biedrins all healthy throughout the year, they'll have a good chance at competing in the Western Conference.
