Stanford falls 10 spots in the AP Poll after a loss to Washington.

After a tough Thursday night loss to the Washington Huskies, the Stanford Cardinal saw a sharp decline in support in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, falling from No. 8 to No. 18 in this week's edition of the poll.

The Cardinal's 17-13 loss to the Huskies proved the opening a few other teams needed to climb spots in the rankings, as the West Virginia Mountaineers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Florida Gators and Texas Longhorns each climbed one spot after the Cardinal vacated the No. 8 spot.

Stanford lands just behind the No. 17 Oklahoma Sooners and just ahead of the No. 19 Louisville Cardinal.

The nation continues to chase the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, which collected all 60 of the poll's first-place votes in this week's edition. The Florida State Seminoles, fresh from a victory over the South Florida Bulls, leapfrogged the LSU Tigers for the No. 3 spot as LSU falls to No. 4.

The Oregon Ducks remained the No. 2 team in the latest poll.
