In the Stanford Cardinal's suspenseful 20-13 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the story of the game might have been Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson going down with an injury, only to be replaced by Tommy Rees, who engineered the game-winning drive in overtime. But for a Stanford side dealing with injuries of its own, Saturday proved to be a day without major injury stunting the Cardinal's ability to hang with the Irish.
Headed into the key matchup, Stanford had been dealing with an injury to wide receiver Ty Montgomery, who was forced to miss the game on Saturday. Montgomery had been fighting a knee injury and was doubtful for the game headed into the showdown. Montgomery had pulled in 18 passes for 168 yards on the season and had served as a key kick returner for the Cardinal thus far in 2012.
Montgomery was to be reevaluated to see if he could go for Stanford's next game -- a Pac-12 Northern California showdown with the California Golden Bears.
