Stanford vs. Notre Dame 2012 score update: Score remains unchanged, Stanford leads 10-3

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

It has been an ugly defensive battle as neither offense can muster much yardage.

It has been an ugly, grind it out battle of the defenses between Notre Dame and Stanford as Stanford still leads 10-3.

No team was able to get a first down until the Notre Dame Fighting Irish did with seven minutes less in the quarter. Quarterback Everett Golson started to work Notre Dame down the field but fumbled the ball away on the Stanford 17-yard line - his second of the game and Notre Dame's third fumble lost.

Prior to that, the team's combined first four drives amounted to 12 plays for a grand total of eight yards.

After quarterback Josh Nunes struggled in the first half of the game with two interceptions, the Cardinal offense became more run centric. Running back Stepfan Taylor leads all rushers in the game with 68 yards on 16 carries. Six different Cardinal players have rushed the ball.

Golson is also finding more success on the ground, to a certain degree. Excluding his two very costly fumbles, he has rushed for 36 yards on 13 carries. He has only completed 10 passes throughout the game.
