The 2012 AP preseason poll will be released Saturday and Stanford is likely to be ranked for the third straight season.

The 2012 Associated Press preseason poll will be released Saturday morning and Stanford is likely to be ranked for the third straight season.

The Cardinal checked in at No. 4 in 2010 and No. 7 in the 2011 AP preseason poll, but with the loss of Andrew Luck and other key members of that team, they will likely be much lower in 2012. Stanford was ranked 18th in the 2012 USA Today Coaches' Poll released in early August.

The mid-to-late teens seems to be the likely range for Stanford, as they were ranked 19th in SB Nation's post-spring BlogPoll. In their preseason top 25, Sports Illustrated ranked Stanford 17th, citing the Cardinal's strong running game as the main reason they won't fall off the map in the post Andrew Luck era.

The 2012 AP preseason top 25 poll will be released Saturday at 7:00 a.m. PT.
