Andrew Luck, Heisman Trophy Finalist

Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck looked like the clear Heisman Trophy frontrunner when the season started. It's not looking like that way anymore, but he will make the trip to New York City for the second straight year

Luck had another remarkable season, completing 70% of his passes at 8.5 yards per attempt and 264.2 yards per game, but his team lost the biggest game of the year against the Oregon Ducks, knocking him out of the national championship game and probably jeopardizing Luck's chances to win it all. Other worthy contenders have popped up, all of whom have a great chance.

  • Montee Ball of the Wisconsin Badgers: Perhaps the most prolific runner in the country, Ball got into the end zone over and over to help lead Wisconsin to a Big 10 championship.
  • Robert Griffin III of the Baylor Bears: Luck might not have even had the best season by a quarterback. That honor probably goes to Griffin, who completed an incredible 72% of his passes and had over 4000 yards passing.
  • Tyrann Mathieu of the LSU Tigers: Mathieu had a spectacular defensive season full of game-changing plays in the biggest games, with great punt returns and interceptions.
  • Trent Richardson of the Alabama Crimson Tide: Richardson was the most consistent runner in the SEC and had big games all year long to help get Bama to the BCS national championship.

Luck might still win this one, but he has a formidable field to deal with. The winner will be announced Saturday night.
