2010 BCS Standings: Stanford Remains No. 6, Gains Ground On LSU

The Week 13 BCS standings were released and things fell just about as expected thanks to the Nebraska loss. The Cornhuskers loss saw Ohio State and Oklahoma State each climb one spot, while the Michigan State Spartans leapt Alabama in this week’s BCS rankings.

The Stanford Cardinal held steady at the sixth position, but did gain some ground on LSU thanks to some movement in the various component polls of the BCS. Stanford climbed a spot in the Harris Interactive College Football Poll. They also climbed in some computer rankings, but drops in other rankings left them with the same .800 rating for the computer polls. LSU dropped from .890 to .880, which combined with Stanford’s Harris increase was enough to cut into the LSU lead. LSU currently leads Stanford in the BCS rankings by .0430.

This coming week will be interesting because LSU squares off with BCS No. 12 Arkansas in a critical matchup for both teams. The losing team will potentially be eliminated from a potential BCS at large berth. Stanford has to be hoping for an Arkansas upset, which would bump Stanford up to No. 5 (with a win of their own over Oregon State) and improve their at large chances for a BCS bowl.
