The San Jose St. Spartans recovered from an ugly start and have taken a one possession lead against the Idaho Vandals, 14-7. San Jose turned the ball over three times in the opening quarter but were only down 7-0 entering the second, and a more disciplined effort has them entering the locker room up by seven.
De'Leon Eskridge put the Spartans on the board first with a one yard rushing touchdown to tie the game. He has 42 yards on 12 attempts through the half. David Fales is 13 for 18, with 1 touchdown and 1 interceptions. Jabari Carr was the man who came down the the touchdown reception, one of the four he pulled in for 49 yards.
The Spartan defense has held the Vandals to a total of 47 yards, 45 through the air and a net of two on the ground. The defense managed three sacks in the first half, with Travis Johnson, David Tuitupou and Anthony Larceval getting in on the fun.
There's a lot of football left to play, but the Spartans are ahead and just 30 minutes away from returning to bowl eligibility.
