Texas State vs. San Jose State: Spartans trail 20-17 at halftime

The San Jose State Spartans trail the Texas State Bobcats, 20-17, at halftime in a Saturday afternoon WAC matchup. The Spartans are looking for their sixth win for the first time since 2008 as they face Texas State, who is an FBS transitional program.

Shaun Rutherford and Marcus Curry have scored on the ground for the Bobcats, who took the lead on a 42-yard field goal eight seconds before the end of the half.

San Jose State quarterback David Fales has completed 14 of 25 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown, as well as an interception. Running back De'Leon Eskridge has picked up 48 yards on 11 carries.

Chandler Jones scored the touchdown through the air for SJSU on a 6-yard catch. David Freeman punched in the other touchdown for the Spartans from 10 yards out on the ground.

Texas State will receive the ball to start the second half.
