The Spartans red zone offense stalled and the Aggie's did not as San Jose State trails 14-3 after the first quarter.
The San Jose State Spartans drove most of the length of the field but stalled on their first drive as they trail the Utah State Aggies 14-3 after the first quarter.
Quarterback David Fales led the Spartans on a 67-yard, 12 play drive that got them all the way to the Aggie's 8-yard line. But the Aggies defense shored up, forcing a fumble on the first down, stalling a goal line rush on the second down and breaking up a Fales pass on the third down to force the field goal.
Fales was sacked twice in the Spartans subsequent drive and the Spartans were forced to punt after not moving the chains. Fales has been sacked three times in the first quarter for a loss of 22-yards.
The Aggies quickly made ground following the punt as Keeton connected for a deep pass to Matt Austin to make it to the Spartans 6-yard line. Keeton capitalized with Austin again for the second touchdown to take a 14-3 lead.
Fales is 7-for-8 for 85 yards through the first quarter. But he is being one-upped a bit by Keaton, who is 9-for-12 for 121 yards and two touchdowns.
