The San Jose Sharks made a number of signings on Thursday as the club announced the re-signing of three of their forwards, Frazer McLaren, John McCarthy and TJ Galiardi, as well as signing free agent forward Jonathan Matsumoto to a one-year deal as well.
The biggest deal is of course Galiardi, who played in 69 games for both Colorado and San Jose last season. He posted 15 points (nine goals, six assists) along with 53 penalty minutes. He finished the regular season second on the Sharks in hits (110) and scored his first goal with the team on April 3 on the road against the Dallas Stars.
As for John McCarthy, He saw time in just 10 games for San Jose last season. He did however lead the Worcester Sharks (AHL) in goals and points (20-27=47) in 65 games played. Frazer McLaren played in just seven games for San Jose in 2011-12, posting nine penalty minutes. In 20 games with Worcester, he had just one assist and 73 penalty minutes. He is currently the all-time leader in Worcester Sharks history with 490 penalty minutes and 47 fighting majors.
Last but not least, Jonathan Matsumoto who has combined for 281 points (124-157=281) in 392 career regular season games at the AHL level. He has also posted 28 points (10-18=28) in 41 career AHL Calder Cup Playoff games. saw time in only one game for Florida last season after being acquired from Carolina on Jan. 18 for A.J. Jenks.
