San Jose Sharks Ink Marc-Edouard Vlasic To Five-Year Contract Extension

The San Jose Sharks continue a flurry of offseason moves going by extending a forward to a big contract. Marc-Edouard Vlasic is coming back for five more seasons as he signed a five-year contract extension. We still do not yet know the terms of the deal.

The 25 year old Vlasic was third on the team with a +11 rating, and has been scoring double-digit pluses for most of his tenure in the NHL (only one season did he not finish with a double-digit plus factor). He blocked 171 shots, tied for 12th in the NHL, and had a team-record eight blocks in one game earlier this season. Vlasic has been one of San Jose's finest players the past few seasons, putting up 133 points in 471 games in six seasons with the Sharks. His +62 career plus/minus rating is second highest figure in the team's history.

The Sharks have been hiring and replacing coaches left and right, so it's nice to see San Jose doing their best to stick with as many productive players on their roster as they can.

Discuss Vlasic with Sharks fans by heading on over to Fear the Fin.
