San Jose Earthquakes Preseason 2012: Quakes Sign Columbian Midfielder Tressor Moreno

According to Quake, Rattle, and Goal's Robert Jonas, the San Jose Earthquakes have made a significant pick up by adding Columbian midfielder Tressor Moreno to the squad Thursday, just another move made by the busy Quakes this year so far.

Quakes GM John Doyle and head coach Frank Yallop had nothing but good things to say about Moreno:

"Tressor is a classic No. 10," said Earthquakes general manager John Doyle in a prepared statement. "He's a guy who can dictate the tempo of a game and really take control for us. He has the ability to score goals, but more importantly can set other guys up for scoring chances."

"Tressor has great vision and is a terrific passer of the ball," said Earthquakes head coach Frank Yallop in a prepared statement. "He's a proven No. 10 at the international level and is coming off a successful season in Chile. He brings a new element to our squad that we've been looking for and we're excited to have him."

With Tottenham's Simon Dawkins remaining overseas instead of returning to the States, San Jose had to look for some plan B players, and did well adding Shea Salinas and Marvin Chavez, but with Moreno you get an attacking midfielder with great vision and the ability to connect with others well. He'll be some solid glue for the cohesion of the offense.

San Jose has only three of the possibly seven international roster spots filled as of now, so they certainly have options with other signings. It'll be interesting to see who they pick up.
