Giants Vs. Cardinals: San Francisco Looks To Slow Down Lance Lynn

The San Francisco Giants have to regroup in a hurry after getting drubbed by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night, getting All-Star Lance Lynn to contend with on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.

Lynn (13-4, 3.40) is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA in his last five starts, allowing two runs or fewer in four of them. He has also won four of his last five starts at home, including 12 scoreless innings in his last two outings at Busch, both victories.Lynn did happen to struggle against the Giants, allowing five runs over 5.1 innings of a 12-7 loss at Busch back on June 2.

Barry Zito (8-8, 4.27) is on the opposite side of the spectrum, going 0-2 with a 7.56 ERA in his last three starts. He gave up seven runs on six hits in 4.1 innings in his last start, a 9-1 loss to the New York Mets. Zito is 1-6 with a 5.23 ERA in eight career starts against the Cardinals, losing all three decisions in four games in St. Louis with a whopping ERA of 9.00.

Buster Posey and former Giant Carlos Beltran continue to shine as Buster is batting .458 with a .505 OBP since the all-star break, including sven home runs in that span as well. As for Beltran, he hit his NL leading 78th RBI last night with his 26th dinger of his own this season.
