The San Francisco Giants haven't seen the Colorado Rockies in seemingly forever, a two game-set in the middle of May to be exact, but lock horns with the NL West foes once more this weekend at Coors Field out in Denver.
The Black and Orange hold a slim half a game lead over the Dodgers in the division, though hold a commanding 21 game lead over the last-place Rockies, who have lost six in a row, and have only four wins since the All-Star break. San Francisco is fresh off a terrible series against the Mets, who took three of four at AT&T Park. Hopefully a trip to the Mile-High city can help turn their fortunes around, especially on offense after scoring just three runs total in the last three games.
Former Giant Jonathan Sanchez (0-2, 11.88) gets his first shot at revenge on Friday against Ryan Vogelsong (8-5, 2.22). Sanchez hasn't gotten out of the fouth inning in his two starts with Colorado, taking the loss in both. Vogelsong gave up one run in six innings in his last start though still took the lost against L.A. First ptich is set for 5:40 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Jeff Francis (3-3, 5.43) takes on Madison Bumgarner (11-6, 3.09) Saturday in a battle of lefties. Francis gave up five runs in just four inigns in his last start, while Bummy got a no decision after six innings of two run ball against the Mets in his last start. First pitch is set for 5:10 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Drew Pomeranz (1-6, 4.99) battles Tim Lincecum (5-11, 5.62) in Sunday's series finale.
