Jason Heyward hit a three-run home run, leading an 11-hit attack as the Atlanta Braves topped the San Francisco Giants 7-3 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Giants, who saw their lead in the National League West shrink to two games.
Madison Bumgarner (14-8) allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. After striking out 10 and walking none in his previous start on Monday night at Dodger Stadium, Bumgarner struck out five and walked four on Saturday afternoon.
The Giants had just five hits on the day, one of them a pinch-hit, two-run double by Gregor Blanco in the seventh inning that cut Atlanta's lead to 4-3. But the Braves fought back with a pair of eighth-inning runs to help put the game away.
Mike Minor (7-10) pitched into the seventh inning for the win, walking none while striking out five. He allowed three runs.
The two teams conclude their four-game series on ESPN Sunday night baseball, with Tim Lincecum on the mound for the Giants, facing Tim Hudson for the Braves.
