Can the Giants return to form in San Diego?
The Pads had a solid streak going before being swept by the Atlanta Braves in their last series, looking to hold court on their home turf. The Giants lost two out of three to the Nats while losing Melky Cabrera in the process as this will be the first series they've played without him all season.
Ross Ohlendorf (4-3, 6.41) takes on Matt Cain (11-5, 2.99) in the opener. Cain earned himself a win on August 11 to get back in the saddle, lasting 7.2 innings of two-run ball. It was his first victory in his past five starts. As for Ohlendorf, he lasted just three innings in his last start after giving up seven early runs to the Pirates. Eric Stults (3-2, 2.45) faces Barry Zito (9-8, 4.29) in a battle of the lefties. Zito lasted 5.1 innings in his last start, a non decision against Colorado, while Stults earned the win in Atlanta in his last outing with 7.2 innings of two-run ball. Clayton Richard (9-12, 3.91) and RHP Ryan Vogelsong (10-6, 2.72) duke it out in the finale. Vogey had one of his worst outings over after lasting just 2.2 innings, giving up 8 runs. As for Richard he took the loss in his last start as well after allowing five runs in 6.1 innings of work. First pitch is at 1:05 with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
