MLB Trade Rumors: Giants Acquire Phillies OF Hunter Pence, According To Reports

According to tweets from CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the San Francisco Giants have agreed to acquire Philadelphia Phillies' rightfielder Hunter Pence.

The deal for the 29-year-old looks to be in response to the Los Angeles Dodgers recently adding another bat to their lineup by acquiring Hanley Ramirez from the Miami Marlins. Pence isn't Ramirez, but he will definitely add some pop to the Giants' lineup.

Pence is currently hitting .271 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI for the Phillies and is a career .290 hitter.

The Giants and Phillies overcame previously reported issues with payroll and prospects to get the deal done. It looked for a little while like Pence might have had to stay put on the East Coast.

The Dodgers and Giants are in a virtual tie atop the NL West as the Giants sit at 55-47 and the Dodgers are 56-48. The Giants are reeling at the moment as they are suffering through a five-game losing streak.
