2012 MLB All-Star Game MVP: Melky Cabrera Takes Home Honors

Stay connected for news and updates

Melky Cabrera is having a career year with the San Francisco Giants, and he came up huge for the National League on Tuesday night at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. Cabrera made the start in center field and went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored, including a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning. For his efforts, he was named the MVP of the Mid-Summer Classic.

"To the fans of Kansas City and San Francisco, thank you," Cabrera said in his post-game interview with FOX.

In addition to a pretty awesome glass bat, Melky was also handed the keys to a brand new Chevy that looked pretty slick on the field. Not a bad night for a guy in danger of losing his job a couple of seasons ago with the Braves and Royals.
