Giants Minor League Affiliate Update

The Giants' minor league teams near the midpoint of their seasons, and the two California affiliates find themselves in second place. It has been a strong year for pitching prospects such as Eric Hacker, Kyle Crick and Chris Heston, but many of the position players who were expected to excel have done poorly.

AAA: Fresno defeated Sacramento on Monday night by a score of 3-2, with Yusmiero Petit getting the victory after a strong outing. He pitched six innings and gave up two runs, while striking out seven. Conor Gillaspie homered and walked twice in the game. Fresno stands a half game back of Sacramento, at 40-24 on the year.

AA: Richmond was off Monday, but stands in last place in their division at 29-34.

A+: San Jose lost to Inland Empire 12-8 after surrendering 11 runs in the fifth and sixth frames. Dan Runzler in his second rehab start pitched one inning, giving up two hits and an unearned run. Ricky Oropesa, one of the few Giants minor league hitters who is hot at the moment, reached base three times. San Jose is 4.5 games behind Bakersfield in their division, and hold a record of 34-31.

A: Augusta was rained out on Monday, but will have a double-header against Rome on Tuesday. They are 27-35, seventh place in their division.
