On the last day of the Cactus League, the Oakland A's avoided a sweep in the Bay Bridge Series with a 8-1 victory at AT&T Park.
It was the last installment of the preseason Bay Bridge Series, with the San Francisco Giants looking for the sweep of their East Bay counterparts the Oakland A's. But behind a monster day for Josh Donaldson, the A's ran away with the easy 8-1 victory Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Park.
Donaldson launched not one but two homers, capping off a five RBI day off the Giants Yusmeiro Petit, while Jonny Gomes added a solo shot of his own. Kila Ka'aihue was 3-3 for the afternoon with a double, while Jemile Weeks was 2-4 with and RBI. Yoenis Cespedes finished 1-3.
As for the Giants, Buster Posey plated the lone run for the Black and Orange with and RBI single in the first, finishing 2-2 with a double. Unfortunately the Giants offense went incredibly stagnant from there on in, not exactly the high-note you'd like to end your preseason on. Ryan Theriot and Hector Sanchez both had multi hit games, finishing 2-3 and 2-4 respectfully.
