The San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds will send out a pair of veteran pitchers on Tuesday at the Great American Ballpark, each trying to complete their own personal renaissance in 2012 after elongated struggles the past few seasons.
Left-hander Barry Zito (1-0, 1.71) has been off to his best start in a while after the importable shutout in Colorado, while allowing just two earned runs in each of his last two outings, including giving up 4 hits in five innings against the Mets his last time out. Zito is 3-4 with a 7.47 ERA lifetime against Cincinnati.
35-year old Bronson Arroyo (1-0, 2.91) takes the Bump for Cincy, winners of four of their last five, trying to make up for his atrocious 2011. He sported a 9-12 record and 5.07 ERA last year, while giving up 112 earned runs and 46 home runs than most of any pitcher in the league.
First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM in and around the Bay Area, while Fox Sports Ohio and WLW 700 AM will have the coverage in the East.
