Jeremy Affeldt, Bruce Bochy Comment On Wild Giants Win Over Mets

The San Francisco Giants picked up a thrilling, pulse-pounding 10th-inning win against the New York Mets at Citi Field on Friday night, in a game where Bruce Bochy ended up using 20 players. San Francisco emerged with a win by the skin of their teeth following a blown save.

Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury talked to the Giants following the game and relayed some interesting comments. After starter Barry Zito was pulled prior to the sixth inning, Bochy used a sometimes-puzzling mix-and-match of bullpen arms to work the last five innings.

Jeremy Affeldt was one of the relievers who came up huge in the game, pitching two scoreless, hitless innings.

"We're down an All-Star arm with Wilson out, so we have to mix and match," Affeldt said. "It's nothing new for Bochy and it's why he is who he is. He seems to match guys up right."

This is a game that would have stung for quite a while had the Giants failed to pull off the win, something that Bochy acknowledged.

"That would have been a tough one to lose," Bochy said. "What's important is that you bounce back, and we did."

The Giants hope to bounce back once again on Saturday, as the four-game series in New York continues.
