Giants Vs. Mets, Final Score: Hector Sanchez's Clutch 10th Inning Single Leads to 4-3 Giants Win

The San Francisco Giants came to Citi Field looking to keep their momentum against the New York Mets after their last thrilling extra-innings victory. But after the Giants took the early lead, the Mets came back to force extras in the ninth, but it was Hector Sanchez's clutch hit in the 10th inning to push the Giants to the 4-3 victory.

Angel Pagan made the most of his return to Citi Field, launching his first home run of the season in the third inning to give the Giants the early lead. Buster Posey followed with an RBI double a few batters later, than watched Pablo Sandoval score on a Jon Niese wils pitch.

Jason Bay and Kirk Nieuwenhuis got to Barry Zito with solo jacks in the fourth and fifth respectfully, eventually knocking him out of the game after 100 pitches. He wasn't as sharp as his last two outings, but was strong enough to get through his five innings, allowing two solo home runs as part of the four he gave up total. He also had three walks and only two strikeouts, but luckily the bullpen was strong enough to finish the job.

Guillermo Mota and Jeremy Affeldt held the Mets in check until the bottom of the ninth, when Santiago Casillia blew the save as pinch hitter Josh Thole slapped the go game-tying single to force extra innings.

After Melky Cabrera drew a walk to start the 10th, then stole second to set up Hector Sanchez's line drive single to put the Giants ahead, with Clay Hensley earning the save. Sergio Romo earned the win for his 2/3 inning pitched giving up two singles.

The Giants offense was well-balanced this evening as Cabrera, Sandoval, Sanchez and Posey all finished with multi-hit games, while Pagan's first home run of the year coming off his former team is just what he needed.

Jon Niese got no decision after 6 innings of three run ball for New York, allowing seven hits two walks and five strikeouts. David Wright remained one RBI shy of tying Darryl Strawberry from most ribbies in Mets history.

Ryan Vogelsong (0-1 2.84 ERA) takes the mound for San Francisco on Saturday, taking on Mike Pelfrey (0-0 3.09 ERA) for the Mets. First pitch is set for 10:10 a.m. PT tomorrow, so make sure to have breakfast with the Giants tomorrow!
