When the Houston Astros arrived in the City by the Bay many a San Francisco Giants fan was licking their chops at the possibility of making up ground in the NL West. That didn't exactly pan out how many had hoped as Houston took two of the four game set, but now the Giants must focus on their next opponents, the Chicago Cubs, another struggling team headed to the Bay.
Chicago has won only 3 of their last 12 games, currently residing 20 games under .500 and miles out of the race for the NL Central. Nevertheless, these seem to be the teams that the Giants struggle with the most (like Houston), and with NL West crown hanging in the balance these are games that the defending champs must certainly need to win.
But the Giants haven't been much better than the Cubs as of late, winners of just four of their last 10 games, seven of which came against the worst place Astros, and never plating more than 5 runs (both 5 run instances came in loses to Houston). Even with the magical properties of AT&T Park the Giants are still in need of plating some more runs if they want to starting winning in bunches, because the pitching staff has been more than upholding their end of the bargain.
