Giants vs. Astros, MLB Scores: Giants Fall To Astros 3-1

It was just days ago that the San Francisco Giants lost to the hands of the Houston Astros down on their turf, and unfortunately they suffered the same fate Thursday night. Ryan Vogelsong pitched well but not well enough as former Giants prospect Henry Sosa got the win by the score of 3-1.

Vogelsong (L 10-4) kept the 'stros to three runs on six hits tonight in his seven and 1/3 innings, walking four while fanning four. His 117 pitches on the night seemed a bit high, maybe a sign that skipper Bruce Bochy has less confidence in the bullpen as of late. Nevertheless Jeremy Affeldt and Steve Edelfsen held the fort the rest of the way.

The lone run the Giants could muster came from a Orlando Cabrera groundout as the team's average with RISP continued to dive, leaving three more men on base. Carlos Beltran and Pablo Sandoval each had a hit, while the only Giant with multiple hits tonight was Jeff Keppinger.

Henry Sosa (W 1-2) was stellar in his six innings, allowing only four hits along with three walks and three strikeouts. It was Sosa's first win as a big leaguer.

With the loss the Giants move to 69-62 on the year. Full box score can be found here
