After about a month or so of rest and rehabilitation to his strained groin San Francisco Giants infielder Mike Fontenot will finally be back with the club for Suday’s matchup with the New York Mets.
Fontenot went down the same night that Buster Posey did in the beginning of June and suffered a few setbacks during his rehab process, leaving him with triple-A Fresno for quite a few games. But, he’s finally back at full strength and returns at a time when the Giants need a solid middle infielder with Bill Hall on the DL with a gash in his shin, and Miguel Tejada playing second for the first time ever (although he’s been filling in admirably).
As for the rest of the lineup, All-Star Pablo Sandoval will play first base, moving Miguel Tejada over to third. Brandon Crawford will be at shortstop, Nate Schierholtz will be in right field and bat cleanup, while Eli Whiteside will be behind the dish to catch Matt Cain.
