2011 MLB All-Star Voting: Buster Posey Leads NL Catchers, Causing Giants Fans To Cry

The San Francisco Giants have a pretty good catcher. His name is Buster Posey, perhaps the greatest of all Busters to walk this Earth (at least that's what Google tells me). His averages this year are .284 batting, .368 OBP, .389 slugging. He catches for aces like Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, helping place the incredible Giants pitching staff in line.

Buster is gone for the 2011 regular season, and Giants fans have had a week to try and recover from their incredibly painful loss. But just as San Francisco is ready to move on and endure the remainder of their 2011 campaign, Major League Baseball has been quite happy to reopen the wounds with the release of the first All-Star ballot.

With regards to Giants candidates for open positions, the NL results are as follows:

CATCHER
Buster Posey, Giants: 785,314
Brian McCann, Braves: 633,987
Yadier Molina, Cardinals: 595,576
Carlos Ruiz, Phillies: 354,680
Ramon Hernandez, Reds: 350,771

SECOND BASE
Brandon Phillips, Reds: 837,778
Rickie Weeks, Brewers: 562,071
Chase Utley, Phillies: 561,585
Dan Uggla, Braves: 465,219
Freddy Sanchez, Giants: 347,713

THIRD BASE
Placido Polanco, Phillies: 724,724
Chipper Jones, Braves: 540,168
Pablo Sandoval, Giants: 522,037
David Wright, Mets: 500,200
Scott Rolen, Reds: 370,271

Here is how San Francisco fans probably reacted to this news.

Voting is open until June 30 at 11:59pm on MLB.com or the Giants team website, with fans able to vote up to 25 times, which probably means more angst over Buster Posey forthcoming.
