San Francisco Giants, 2011 Spring Training News: TV Ratings for Giants v. A's Exhibition Off the Charts

Who knew a game that doesn’t matter could have so many people watching it?

The television ratings for last night’s Bay Bridge exhibition series opener between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s were off the charts, delivering an average 4.85 television household rating, which is insanely good for those who don’t understand how the ratings work.

If you break the rating down, there were over 122,000 households watching in the San Francisco/San Jose/Oakland areas on television last night, drawing a peak audience of over 140,000 households (5.56 rating). The exhibition game unbelievably out-rated 95 regular season Giants games from the 2010 championship season. In the key advertising demographics, the game posted a 2.16 for Adults 18-49, 2.79 for Adults 25-54, 2.67 for Men 18-49 and 3.53 for Men 25-54. Can’t wait to see the ratings when these teams play again for real on May 20-22.

Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s first of their 135 regular season Giants telecasts begins on Friday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. with the Giants going up against N.L. West rival Los Angeles Dodgers from Dodgers Stadium.
