With the starters getting the day off and the reserves on display the San Francisco Giants lost to the Kansas City Royals by a score of 7-4 at Sunrise Stadium in Sunrise, Arizona. With the loss the Giants finished their Cactus League schedule with a record of 20-12, 1.5 games behind the first place Colorado Rockies.
Jonathan Sanchez got the start today and lasted 5 1/3 innings, giving up 5 runs of 6 hits (4 earned), as well as striking out 5 and walking one. Sanchez finished the Cactus League schedule with a 2.70 ERA and is looking ready to go for the regular season.
As for the Giants offense they were led by minor leaguer Juan Perez, hitting a home run in the seventh and finished the day 2-3 with three RBI. The only other hitter who recorded and RBI was Mike Fontenot with single, Tyler Graham also finished 2-3 with a strikeout.
With the regular season starting on Thursday the Giants will now head back to the Bay for 3 days of exhibition games, starting with the Oakland A’s tomorrow night at AT&T Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 and can be seen on CSN Bay Area, and heard on KNBR 680.
